Over the weekend I had the chance to shoot a wedding reception with Aaron Dieppa, it was a great chance to meet a really nice new couple and to try out my new Canon 5D. You can see Aaron’s images on his blog here.
This cake was so delicious. It was kind of like angel cake with pudding inside that was solid a little like jello. Well that description does not do it justice... All I know is that is was really good cake.
I got to get in really close with a 100mm macro on the cake topper.
Aaron likes to photograph details, I think if you left him alone for an hour in a room you might be able to reconstruct the room from his photographs alone.
The one item on the dinner menu that I had never had and really was excited about was Shark Fin soup. It was delicious.
The is a very special necklace of the brides.
This is it!!! The shark fin soup!!!
Some Pigeon.
Although Aaron did eat some pigeon I don't recall him actually eating the head. You should ask him if he really did.
Now comes a game that I think is really fun. The groom gets blindfolded and has to feel other girls hands and figure out which one is his wife.
AWESOME JOB. The depth of tone is just stunning and you’ve got GREAT contrast without it bleeding the blacks. Seriously cool. What were you shooting before the 5D?
@David - Thanks for the comment! I was shooting with a Canon 20D. I would still be shooting with the 20D because it is still a very capable camera; I just got a great deal on the 5D and could not pass it up.
Today was a pretty busy day, even though we only intended to go to one place.
We started the day out lazily by sleeping in until 11:00am. Got up and asked our tour sales guy, Victor, if he could get us to Chitzen Itza; unfortunately the tour left at 7:00am. We ended up renting a car [...]
Today Bonny and I had a very awesome time at Xcaret, Mexico. Think Disneyland in Mexico with a Mayan, jungle and Caribbean theme. It was way one of the best experiences we have had.
The best part for me was when we went swimming in underground rivers and swimming in the jungle. This is just a [...]
Not much today, mostly relaxing for tomorrows wedding. I can’t go getting killed or getting stranded somewhere right before the wedding now can I?
Basically we woke up really late, went to eat, went swimming, then had a fancy dinner.
Above is another bit of video from our day 2 in Cancun, Mexico. We got to go kayaking, meet a monkey, and go on a pirate cruise!
I’d also like to write (type) about what made it possible for me to be here. I am here for work…
Without Bonny, I don’t think I’d be able to [...]
Wow! Cancun is so awesome!
Here is a quick video (30 seconds) recap of our day. We got to see the beautiful beach and water, walk around a bit of Mayan ruins, see some wildlife and go swimming.
We still have not gotten in touch with Aaron (I’m shooting the wedding on Sunday with him) so hopefully [...]

I didn’t eat the pigeon head. I just couldn’t do it! But the rest of the food was great!
Awesome photos man! Thanks for shooting with me!
