Giant Crane Disassembly

The $548 million, seven-floor, 460,000-square-foot building (that will be the new hospital building at Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles) used a giant crane to help build it. Vu and I were asked to photograph and video the disassembly of the crane. (see a write up on the time lapse video on Vu’s blog)

It was an amazing sight from our vantage point. Almost every piece that came off needed it’s own truck to haul it off. It is also a very dangerous job if the proper safety procedures are not used. Fortunately everything went smooth and safe.

Great shots. Sorta begs the question of how to assemble a crane: use a bigger crane!
