This time I really captured the feeling of Orange Kitty Death, her eyes were even open.

Here is what is see almost every day:

I was up in Marina Del Rey all day working on The [b] School and on the way home Vu and I stopped by the Cube News 1 HQ for a quick shoot. It was really fun; I recomend checking the show out at CubeNews1.com right now!

Vicki just finished school and her clinicals in Chicago. She has not had In-N-Out for 2 years!!! Today is special!!!

Well, that is all fixed today!!! With the recent release of iPhone apps we have seen a number of very useful apps; my new favorite is Wordpress app for iPhone.

It is perfectly streamlined for easy posting on the go. I hope when video comes out I can then easily post video too.

It is enough to cover buying the new iPhone 3g, a new case, and have some money left over! If you have an old iPhone, you can get some good money for it on craigalist.

Super Monkey Ball

This is a pay application ($9.99 and the only app I have purchased), it is actually a game, that you seem to collect bananas for points. It is controlled by the accelerometer in the iPhone. I spent about 5 minutes playing and got to the point where I could control the monkey, but you really need to be sitting up looking down at the screen for the controls to work well. There was no “tips” pop ups letting you know how to do things or even what to do.

Overall I like the game so far and want to find our more about it, how to play it and what other things you do besides running around collecting bananas.

AIM

AOL Instant Messenger for the iPhone is free and works great. You don’t get messages when not in the application but once you go back in they all come through. There is an option to also sign out when you leave the application so messages can then be forwarded to you via SMS (if you have set that up already).

I like AIM and will probably use it for chatting when I need it.

Twitteriffic

If you use Twitter, you probably know what Twitteriffic is; if not, you can skip this one. You don’t get ‘push’ notifications, that is what I somehow hoped for, it did completely halt and reboot my iPhone when I opened it once yet it is still very likable. You can take and tweet photos from it, you can press a button and it will update your Twitter profile with your current location (mine just says “iPhone: 33.866241,-117.953552″ now…) and you can do pretty much all of the other normal things Twitteriffic Desktop does.

I like it, but think I’ll still be sticking to the default m.twitter.com.

Evernote

Evernote desktop and web versions are very cool, they let you take clippings from pretty much anything on your computer and place them is a virtual notebook. You can type notes and search notes very well, you can even search text in images too! This iPhone version is great for reviewing notes you have already created on the web or desktop. It also allows you to make text notes, photos notes, and audio notes right from the iPhone. Unfortunately you cannot edit any notes once they are created.

Since I already use Evernote on my desktop to save notes, I’ll pe happy to have access to them anywhere I go.

Facebook

Looks like it would be a great app, but it will not let me connect.

UPDATE: Wow, Facebook is an awesome app (it also made my iPhone reset once though). Perfect interface, feature rich, and very fast. If you are a Facebook use you will love it.

iTunes Remote

Nice!!! Try it out, it is free. it is literally a remote for your entire iTunes library on your desktop. Setup was really simple, a code came up on the iPhone and you enter it into iTunes when it asks you. Done.

WeatherBug

I live in Southern California. I’m sure this application will be much more appreciated in other parts of the world. It gives you lots of weather data including map overlays to see rain, a forecast, current weather conditions and even access to weather webcams!

I like it but my weather forecast is usually the same every day; not many surprises here in so cal!

Where

I have just used this one for a few minutes, but already like it. Think of Google maps with a few cool overlays you can use. The one that caught my eye was the GasBuddy one. he application first locates you, loads the map, then shows you where the nearest gas stations are with an overlay. When you select the gas stations it also gives you the price of gas at that location!!! Sweetness. There are a bunch of overlays you can use, but I’ll get to those later.

Well, thats all of the apps that caught my eye right off the bat. I’m sure I’ll be installing many more.

While I was backing everything up from the shoot I could not help but notice this photograph of Kent.

If you do not read Kent’s blog you are severely missing out on some fantastic information from a great mind. His blog header now has a very familiar image in it!

I’ve now been back for a week and have not posted more photographs from the wedding… I am getting through them slowly and came across this one. I feel that it really represents a lot about wedding photography.

The first thought that came to my mind is that every wedding day goes by so fast it is a blur.

How do you feel this photograph represents wedding photography?

It was an amazing sight from our vantage point. Almost every piece that came off needed it’s own truck to haul it off. It is also a very dangerous job if the proper safety procedures are not used. Fortunately everything went smooth and safe.

This is the removal of the counter weights. If one of these were to drop while being moved it would break through 3 floors of a building.

The counter weights are very heavy.

Here is the last piece that was removed before we left for the day. There was a very nice view of Los Angeles proper from the helicopter pad we were taking photographs and video from.

We started the day out lazily by sleeping in until 11:00am. Got up and asked our tour sales guy, Victor, if he could get us to Chitzen Itza; unfortunately the tour left at 7:00am. We ended up renting a car and thinking it would be a great idea to drive there. We mapped out a really great day trip from Cancun to Chitzen Itza then to Tulum. We had plenty of time to make it a good long road trip across a lot of the Yucatan Peninsula.

We started out great, our rental car guy gave us a map and told us the fastest and most cost effective way of going. Basically there is a toll road that has two toll plazas, one $20 one and the next one is $16. There is no avoiding the $20 unless you go on rural roads which will make your trip about 4 hours. So we were off on our way. All would have been well if there was not construction… we were delayed an hour and a half going through what should have been our 20 minute $16 savings route

Once we made it to Chitzen Itza all was great, we walked around and took photographs and some video.

When it was time to leave were were hungry so we went to find a Taco place… after a week here it seems like taco’s are a Pacific thing… it took us about 30 minutes to find a place that served taco’s. The taco’s we ate had a local flavor to them, the ingredients were all fresh and delicious.

Well, by that time we were pretty late and so we debated canceling the Tulum trip. It was just getting too late in the day, we had already driven 200km to Chitzen Itza and it was another 200km to Tulum and then another 130km back to our hotel so we decided to take the scenic rural route back to our hotel (you know, the one with no toll). It was an amazing adventure back. With a mega thunder storm, dogs, chickens, a cat, a church in ruins, and about a thousand speed bumps we made it back in just under 5 hours.

Since Bonny shot the day with our HD camera, I just captured some random pieces of footage from the tape to post, once I get back home I’ll capture the footage and post something else, too.

The day can only be summed up by calling it an adventure Charlie.

The best part for me was when we went swimming in underground rivers and swimming in the jungle. This is just a small portion of the day, I’ll post a full review of Xcaret once I’m back home.

The day could not have been more perfect.

I am so tired after transferring and backing up all of the photographs I am just going to post this one photograph. I’ll post more soon, for now check out Aaron’s blog (he should be posting some images soon).

The whole reason I'm here is because of this happy person.

Well, not just her, but also her cool fiance. Carrie and Daniel are getting married this Sunday, that is one thing I was hired to shoot.

Another reason I'm here, and it is an important one, Is because of this guy; Aaron Dieppa, wedding photographer. He asked me if he could hire me to come and shoot the wedding with him and make some promo videos, I said YES.

Finally, what made it possible for me to be here is my support team. My support team here is Bonny! She it taking care of shooting video for the promos we will make as well as doing a ton of other things.

And here is photograph of the sunset last night.

Without Bonny, I don’t think I’d be able to properly photograph the wedding and make promos for Aaron. So, thank you Bonny!!!

Here is a quick video (30 seconds) recap of our day. We got to see the beautiful beach and water, walk around a bit of Mayan ruins, see some wildlife and go swimming.

We still have not gotten in touch with Aaron (I’m shooting the wedding on Sunday with him) so hopefully we talk to him today. The wedding is going to be at the Dreams Resort here is Cancun. I can’t wait!!!
